Ever Gone "Pig Fishing"?
This is a True and Funny
Fishing Story About a Friend of Mine.
Let me tell you a little about Bob first.
Me and Bob hit it off pretty good not long after we first met, I guess
because we both love a good joke, and just love getting a good joke on
someone. Bob has got a good sense of humor, and there's one thing about
him..... He can take a joke as good as he can pull one.
I talked to Bob about putting up this page
before I did it, and not too surprisingly, he was all for it. The reason
I talked to him, is that the joke is on him!
We used to work together, and he loves fishing
more than anything. Well, one morning, I came into work, and Ross (the
owner) took me to one side and told me to tell Bob that I went fishing
the evening before, and saw a dead pig in the lake. Also, to talk about
how the pig looked and smelled from being dead so long.
I started telling this to Bob, and he got
all excited, and said that just a few years ago that he and his nephew
Darryl, were out fishing, and saw what looked like a pig standing in shallow
water, stuck in the mud.
They decided they would try and help out
the poor pig, and steered the boat over toward it. He said Darryl was hanging
over the front of the boat as they got up to it, and all of a sudden Bob
caught a whif of the pig, which was pretty rank smelling too say in the
least, because it had been dead for who knows how long! Bob, gagging and
wheezing, threw the boat in reverse to get out of there and in doing so,
nearly threw Darryl out of the boat! He also mentioned that before they
got to the pig, they seen a black spot on its side, but upon getting closer,
they discovered the black spot was a swarm of flies.
Well, this doesn't sound like much of a
story at first, until you realize that all the time Bob is telling the
story, he started out coughing a little at first while telling it, then
gagging, wheezing, eyes watering, etc. etc.... The funny thing is that
the more we would ask him about it, the more he would try to tell about
it, while re-living the sickness he felt at the time.
But when he tries to tell the story, he
will try to get in every detail about it even though it's killing him to
do it. Yeah, I know some people might think this is a cruel joke to pull
on someone, but Bob's a good sport about it anyway. He says there is several
friends and family members that know the story, and they always get him
started when they see him.
It became a big joke to get him going on
it, and one night while visiting some friends, we went to a T-shirt shop
where my friend's mother worked at the time. While there, my wife spotted
an iron on of a pig standing in water! I decided to have it put on a cap.
By luck on our part, there was a guy there who did airbrushing, and after
hearing the story, he was more than happy to spruce it up even more! So
he airbrushed a few flies on the pig, and some fumes coming out of the
water around the pig. I added a couple of Bob's favorite kind of fishing
lures to the hat later, and presented it to him. He loves the hat and wears
it every time he goes fishing!
By the way, just by reading this story,
Bob got a little choked up!
Here's a picture of the Cap.

Many thanks to Wilda for the iron on, Pat,
Marie and Amy for help on the ideas, and Steve for the airbrushing, and
Bob for allowing me to put this on the site.
